H.O.M.E.S. System Requirements

The system requirements for running H.O.M.E.S. (or H.O.M.E.S. Lite) are minimal especially for remote sales or construction site office clients (or local head office clients) using Remote Desktop to connect to head office, because H.O.M.E.S. does not have to be installed on the remote client computers.

Administration is also minimal even if clients are not using remote desktop at head office because typically upgrades are only necessary on the main file server. (We are happy to perform upgrades for you if temporary remote access is granted.)

 
Following are detailed system requirements for running the various implementations of H.O.M.E.S. or H.O.M.E.S. Lite:
 
H.O.M.E.S. On-Line Edition

(For real-time remote access via the Internet)

Remote Access Clients (e.g. Sales Office, On-line PDI or Construction Site Office):

  • Microsoft Windows® 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT 4.0, 98 or any remote desktop compatible client (includes Apple Mac or iPad)
  • Internet access
  • Colour monitor with minimum 800x600 resolution (1024x768 or higher preferred for sales office.)
  • Keyboard, mouse and remote desktop compliant printer (if using Server 2003 or earlier at head office)

Local Head Office Clients (Using Remote Desktop):

  • Microsoft Windows® 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT 4.0, 98 or any remote desktop compatible client (includes Apple Mac or iPad)
  • Colour monitor with minimum 800x600 resolution (1024x768 or higher preferred)
  • Keyboard, mouse and printer

Local Head Office Clients (Not using Remote Desktop):

  • Microsoft Windows® 7, Vista professional, XP professional, 2000 professional, NT 4.0 or 98
  • Microsoft Office® 2010, 2007, 2003, XP or 2000 (any edition except "Click-to-Run")
  • Minimum 64Mb RAM, 30Mb hard disk space
  • Colour monitor with minimum 800x600 resolution (1024x768 or higher preferred)
  • Keyboard, mouse and printer

Head Office Server: (only necessary if multiple simultaneous remote users are required.)

  • Microsoft Windows Server (NT4 or later) or Windows XP or later edition with Terminal Services enabled and sufficient client access licenses for remote users. (3rd party software may be required for Windows XP or Small Business Server.)
  • Microsoft Office® 2010, 2007, 2003, XP or 2000 (any edition except "Click-to-Run") installed on terminal server
  • 50Mb hard disk space (varies)
  • High-speed Internet Connection with static IP or other constant Internet address
  • Optional but recommended: MS-Access® 2000 or later (1 license only)

 

H.O.M.E.S. Off-Line Edition
(Uses data exchange/synchronization to link offices where Internet access is not available or reliable.)

Remote (Off-line) Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Clients:

  • Microsoft Windows® 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT4 or 98
  • MS-Word® 2010, 2007, 2003, XP or 2000 (If printing PDI report on portable printer)
  • Colour monitor with 800x600 resolution or higher preferred
  • Keyboard & mouse, (Tablet PC with stylus preferred) and optional portable printer
  • Network connection connection required to synchronize data. (Can be done via Internet)

Remote (Off-line) Sales or Construction Site Offices:

  • Microsoft Windows® 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT 4.0, or 98
  • Microsoft Office® 2010, 2007, 2003, XP or 2000 (any edition except "Click-to-Run")
  • Minimum 64Mb RAM, 30Mb hard disk space
  • Colour monitor with minimum 800x600 resolution (1024x768 or higher preferred)
  • 28.8mbps or faster modem or CSD capable cellular phone (1 per office)
  • CD-ROM, keyboard, mouse and printer
  • Symantec pcANYWHERE32® v10.5 with Windows XP or earlier (1 station per office)
